Vishwakarma Yojana Sikkim – On 15 August 2023, the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi announced a new scheme called PM Vishwakarma Yojana. This scheme is going to be organized on September 17, ie on Vishwakarma Jayanti. With reference to the budget of this scheme, a huge amount of 13 thousand crore rupees has been approved for this scheme in the budget of 2023-24. People of 140 different castes of Vishwakarma community will be benefited through this scheme. The main objective of this scheme is to strengthen the economic condition of more than 30 lakh persons by providing them assistance in their business and to boost their employment opportunities.

A large number of Vishwakarma community people also live in the state of Sikkim. The people of the Vishwakarma community present here have the right to professionally engage in crafts, handicrafts and other production works. These persons will also have the opportunity to take advantage of the online application process starting from 17th September. Under this proposal, each person will be given a loan of Rs 2 to 3 lakh, on which only 5% interest rate will be charged. The people of Vishwakarma community will be able to use this money to develop and expand their business.

30 lakh entrepreneurship employees will be benefited

The duration of “Vishwakarma Yojana” will be for 5 years and its budget is Rs 13,000 crore. From 2023-24 to 2027-28, this scheme will run in these five years, during this time 30 lakh people will get benefited with its help. Training Course for Skill Development

Under the “Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana”, special attention will be given on how skill development can be encouraged and traditional artisans can be helped to acquire knowledge of new tools and innovative designs. Under this initiative, traditional artisans will also be assisted in procuring modern equipment. From the perspective of the scheme, two types of courses – basic and advanced – will be organized for skill development. The artisans who complete the course will be provided a stipend by the government, which will be Rs.500 per day.

• If any member of a family is a government employee and their monthly income is more than Rs 10,000, then they will be denied the benefits of this scheme.
• If a person pays income tax or professional tax or has fridge or landline phone service, then they will not be able to use the benefits of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana.
