PM Vishwakarma is India’s first such scheme which helps in providing end-to-end holistic support to every small businessman, traditional artisans, and craftsmen of the society in scaling up their traditional products and services. The objective of starting Vishwakarma Yojana is quite big which can be understood through the issues given below.

  • Recognizing all artisans and craftsmen living in India as Vishwakarma and giving them financial help in business and other benefits
  • To provide them with business/industry-related education from time to time and to make them more effective by enhancing their skills.
  • Modernization of all equipment used in production and increase of production efficiency, productivity, and quality of products
  • Providing loans in simple, collateral-free, and low-interest rates to the beneficiaries associated with Vishwakarma Yojana and providing interest rate rebate
  • Educating and encouraging digital transactions to encourage digital empowerment of beneficiaries associated with Vishwakarma Yojana
  • To provide a platform for brand promotion and market engagement to help Vishmakarma’s products reach higher purchases and new growth opportunities.

The primary goal of the PM Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana is to enhance the quality, reach, and availability of products and services created by small artisans, traditional craftspeople, and artisans across the nation. This initiative aims to bring economic benefits and empowerment to various small artisans, including weavers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, and laundry workers. Through this scheme, these individuals will receive financial support and access to training, which will promote the development of their skills. The government recognizes that many small artisans lack proper training, hindering the recognition and advancement of their talents. However, the Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana seeks to rectify this by providing training through MSME and offering financial assistance to enhance the overall quality, scale, and accessibility of their products and services.

The government recognizes that many skilled small artisans across various fields possess valuable talents and experience. However, financial constraints often prevent them from realizing their potential and lead them to live in poverty. This unfortunate situation affects a significant portion of our society – individuals with remarkable abilities who are unable to actively participate in societal progress due to financial limitations. To address this issue, the government has announced the launch of the Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana on September 17, 2023. This initiative aims to provide training and financial support to these skilled artisans in need. By empowering these small artisans with both training and financial resources, the government intends to strengthen their financial well-being. This, in turn, will enable them to contribute more effectively to the advancement of both society and the nation.

While the Vishwakarma Yojana is a program by the Central Government, State Governments will also play a part in it. Both the Central and State Governments will team up to make sure that this program is easy for people to access and benefit from.
